The Christmas tree became popular in England in 1841 when Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert, brought a tree over from Germany and put it in Windsor Castle. The Royal couple were illustrated in a newspaper standing around the Christmas tree with their children and the tradition of decorating a tree became fashionable.
In America, modern tradition is to put up a Christmas tree the day or weekend after Thanksgiving (after the fourth Thursday in November).
In some communities it is tradition to put up the Christmas tree on the 6th of December in honor on Saint Nicholas.
The classic tradition is to put up the Christmas tree 12 days before Christmas day, on the 13th of December.
Whenever you decide to put up your Christmas tree, stick on a Micheal Buble CD, crack open the Irish cream drink that is synonymous with Christmas, chomp a few mince pies and have fun!
