A local Tattenhall athlete has been selected to represent Great Britain at the European Duathlon Championships in Transylvania. Iain Wedge competes in the sprint Duathlon, which is made up of a 5k run, followed by a bike race, culminating in a 2k run. Iain said 'It really is an event where there is no chance for error as its all completed at such a furious pace, the transition between sports is really tricky but great fun'. Iain competes for Tattenhall Runners and Chester Triathlon Club.
The race will take place at the end of June around the City Centre of Targu Mures, Transylvania and he will be supported by his wife Louise and children Jack and Sophie.
Iain trains around 10-15 hours per week and is currently working towards the London Marathon before the trip to Romania. After the European Championships he hopes to qualify for team GB in Triathlon as well as attempting his first Ironman events in Hamburg and Barcelona.
Illingworth Seddon Chartered Financial Planners, based in the village, have kindly agreed to be Iain's kit sponsor for the event which he will be proudly wearing at an opening ceremony to host all of the European Multisport Championships.
