Tattenhall WI Celebrates in Style on its 90th Birthday

Hello everyone

What a lovely time we had at the Barbour Institute on the occasion of the Tattenhall Women's Institute 90th Birthday Party.

Around 80 people attended – some in nostalgic dress! Our Patron, Mrs Diana Barbour, and our County Chairman, Mrs Frances Woolham, were our guests of honour along with our longest serving member of 56 years, Mrs Margaret Wilson.

The evening gave a flavour of meetings held through the past few months – flower arranging – we all made a buttonhole to wear for the evening; poetry readings, Eileen W making Pam Ayres' poems come alive, Elaine reading several of Pat's (Pat Rodgers) poems and then a few of us, Shirley, Myr, Jean, Anne and Esme, Kate H and Ruth Mc, making fools of ourselves whilst giving an all-singing, all-dancing performance of Joyce Grenfell's "Stately as two Galleons".

The next item showed off the artistic skills of Pat, Judith, Linda and Eileen C.

Mrs Barbour cut the celebratory cake and Frances Woolham gave toasts to the WI the 100th birthday of the National, the 95th birthday of Cheshire and the 90th of Tattenhall. Gifts were also presented to 3 members age 90+ ( Joyce, Sheila and Pat B).

The evening was rounded off nicely by folk singers Barbara and Mac and Rosemary and Brian before Pat Reynolds gave a most interesting vote of thanks.
