Many will have heard about the closing of the A41 Whitchurch Road – the section from Handley to Bolesworth/Broxton – due from 06:00 Tuesday 3rd to 06:00 Sunday 8th October.
But many will not know that CWAC have a new highway contractor – Colas – who are using 'Recycol' – a process that removes the current road surface, milling it within the machine and adding a binder that is emulsion-based, and relaying it in it's new constituency.
This process is considered to be an energy saving approach, a halving of the time for the work, with a significant reduction in the use of newly quarried stone materials, as well as reducing the number of heavy HGV movements to and around the site. There is also a 9.3% cost saving.
This system is apparently widely used in France, but it will only be the second time it has been used in the UK – and the first time used on a strategic road.
And it is happening just a short distance from Tattenhall!
Check out the details – and the alternative routes on the map above.
