Tattenhall Cricket Club have a new First Team Captain for the 2016 season in the Cheshire County League first division.

Stuart Sadler (see photo to right) has been playing at The Flacca since joining as a 6 year old in 2000. Cricket runs in the family with older brother Richard playing and twin sister Clare playing for Cheshire through to under 17 level. His family have been at Yew Tree Farm in Aldersey since 1933 and Stuart is well used to the early alarm calls for milking at 6am in the family business.

Stuart progressed from junior teams to senior and developed more as a batsman scoring his first 50 in 2010 and being part of the Tattenhall 1st XI which won promotion in 2014 scoring 510 runs including an innings of 96 against Irby.

His 2015 season was interrupted owing to commitments in his role as Chairman of Malpas Young Farmers but with that year drawing to a close he is looking forward to consolidating last year's 9th position and is targeting a top 6 finish by concentrating on the improving young players within the Tattenhall ranks.

"We will look to improve team performance by working hard and enjoying our cricket. There are many good sides in our league but we have a superb set up at The Flacca with our ground staging a Cheshire 3 day game in June for the first time. We are seeing the emergence of many good Tattenhall juniors and we want to play competitive cricket and give them the opportunity to advance at the same time".

Tattenhall have South Australian Brett Seibert coming as their overseas player for 2016. Only 20, he will have a hard act to follow as Dan Power made a good all round contribution over 3 seasons with the club but has now returned to New Zealand. Brett will assist with junior coaching as well as his playing schedule. Stuart is looking at making the most of the cup competitions with his side in 2016 as well.

"The Davidstow Village Cup competition has provided a good opportunity to be successful in previous years and we want to get back to winning ways there this season. With a young line up we should be better in the field but need to back that up with more purpose in our batting displays. The 20/20 cup also gives us a chance to play Nantwich this season after their record breaking in 2015 it will give us a chance to go head to head with Premier league opposition."

Tattenhall have 3 pre-season net sessions left at Abbey Gate School on Thursday evenings from 7pm- 8.30pm and prospective new players are welcome.

The League season starts on April 23rd and full details are available on the club website at www.tattenhallcricketclub.co.uk
