A55 Chester bridge safety works to cause disruption

CWAC Council start work on the bridge over the A55 at Chester Road in Huntington from Monday, July 23rd.

The works on the bridge will take approximately 10 weeks,during which time one footway and one traffic lane will be closed off, and traffic controlled by temporary traffic lights.

Councillor Karen Shore, the council's deputy leader and cabinet member for environment, transport and highways, said: "These works will improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians, as well as schoolchildren who attend Huntington Primary School on the other side of the bridge. The scheme has been planned to take place during the school summer holiday to minimise disruption. Traffic signals will also be manually controlled at peak times to help reduce delays caused during the works. Thank you for your patience while teams work on these safety improvements."

A road closurewill be needed on Chester Road overnight from 8pm – 5.30am from July 23rd – 29th, and then again from September 11th – 16th.

There will also be closures on the A55:

• westbound carriagewayovernight from 8pm – 5.30am between July 24th – 26th
• eastbound carriageway overnight between 8pm – 5.30am from July 27th – 29th.
• The same closures will also be needed in both directions from September 11th – 16th.
