Commonwealth War Graves week is 2nd to 10th May.

CWGC (Commonwealth War Grave Commission) graves are to be found in many Churchyards . In the UK we commemorate over 300,000 service men and women in over 12,300 cemeteries, churchyards and burial grounds. Most have CWGC headstones, others are private memorials. Commemorating the passing of those who died in times of war, they are mainly tended by volunteers who visit, clean where necessary, photograph and report on their condition at least twice a year. Many EOHO (eyes on and hands on volunteers) will be present in Cemeteries this week to ensure that the graves are clean and tidy for the 80th Anniversary of VE Day on 8th May.

The Tattenhall EOHO will be in St Albans Churchyard between 11am and 1pm on 8th May to tend the three war graves and to explain the work of the CWGC to anyone who visits.
