Gifford Lea village will host a coffee morning that brings together residents and the wider community. The coffee morning aims to raise awareness about loneliness and encourage meaningful conversations during this annual campaign organised by the Marmalade Trust, the UK's leading loneliness charity.
As part of its commitment to transforming the later life experience in the country, Inspired Villages established Inspired Friendships in 2020. Inspired Friendships aims to prevent residents and older people in the surrounding communities from feeling isolated by organising various events such as coffee mornings, lunchtime meet-ups, bus trips, and park walks to forge connections among the community.
By facilitating these activities, this creates communities that enable older individuals to live healthier and more independent lives for longer. Alleviating loneliness and isolation, which can have severe mental and physical health implications, is a fundamental aspect of Inspired Villages' mission.
Gifford Lea's wellbeing navigator, Grace Hart says: "At Gifford Lea our entire ethos is centred around creating a community that improves mental, physical, and social wellbeing. This applies to residents and the wider community. We prioritise creating a supportive environment where individuals can thrive, connect with others, and form meaningful relationships. Events and activities like the 'Time for Tea and Talk' coffee morning means we can help to battle loneliness amongst older people in the community and demonstrate how later life can be the best years of your life."
Join Gifford Lea Village for its 'Time for Tea and Talk' coffee morning during Loneliness Awareness Week and become a part of the initiative to raise awareness and make a positive impact in combating loneliness in our communities.
