Did you know that from the 6th of April 2016, all dogs must be microchipped and registered to an approved database by the time they are 8 weeks old? No dogs are exempt.
The microchip is a tiny computer chip that is compatible with living tissue. It is implanted between your dog's shoulder blades, under the skin, with a needle and special syringe. Once in place, the microchip can be detected immediately with a handheld device which identifies their unique chip which is registered by the vet on a database. Whilst collars and tags are still essential and required by law, they can fall off or become damaged.
Microchipping your pet provides a permanent method of pet identification and offers the best chance being reunited with your dog if it should go missing.
Visit your local vet to get chipped!
