Barbour Institute Update

The Trustees at the Barbour Institute would like to thank everyone who donated items for the recent Jumble Sale, all who came along on the afternoon to grab a bargain and, of course, an extra thank you to our wonderful volunteers who make these events possible.

We raised an amazing £618 and that's not the final amount – some donated items were considered to be worth selling privately so look out for news of the new Barbour Institute EBay account! We were also able to add to our vintage tea party stocks, ready for the next Afternoon Tea Party.

Fundraising is hugely important to the Barbour Institute, your Village Hall. Despite a whole range of classes and societies that support us, together with our new and improved wedding and party packages, the costs of running, maintaining and providing utilities for the building are ever increasing.

Future fundraising events include

• A table top sale (you bring the goods and take the profits – we hire you the table) on Saturday 29th June
• An Autumn Jumble will be on Sunday 13th October

The Beer Festival will be sorely missed this year, both as a great social event and welcome revenue, however, plans are afoot for a Charity Party Night in late September.

Over the Easter period we were fortunate to be asked to provide a training venue for Pallmann Flooring. The team worked hard to renovate the floors in 2 of our rooms, showcasing their products to over 70 visiting tradesman. They also enjoyed a giant Scaletrix and a German BBQ, work hard, play hard!
