The programme of events in commemoration of the Armistice Centenary was enough to baffle anyone!

But come you did, to just about everything, and in the most incredible numbers.

For that we thank you.

We have received so many fantastic images, that we intend to run them over a couple of days.

We include today a summary of some of the best pics that we have amassed from the weekend and we hope that you enjoy taking a quick glance. There will be more tomorrow!

Lots of images include children within the village and it is impossible to print many of these because of safeguarding issues.

An overwhelming number of individuals, families, uniformed and non-uniformed groups, together with our loyal passing cyclists (who show up every year), assembled at our War Memorial for the Act of Remembrance, and then in the Millfield, to see the unveiling of our new Poppy Wreath Sculpture, created by Master Forger Andrew Smith.

As one resident said 'I thought today's memorial service was a magnificent show of respect from our village'.

The comprehensive list of sponsors and individuals to thank is immense and it would be foolhardy to try to rattle them off. That said (and not meaning to exclude any one group or individual) ...

  • The Armistice Committee and their planning goes back over a period of months, with Parish Councillor Lisa White (on behalf of the Parish Council) encouraging everyone at every turn.
  • The 'Wall of Poppies', the 'Silent Soldier' and the 'There But Not There' Projects captured the imagination of the entire village and particular thanks to the many individuals involved in the success of each initiative.
  • Bolesworth Estate went about its business as Bolesworth does, in a truly seamless manner – we thank them for storing items, for laying concrete, for cutting grass, for securing and adjusting items when they didn't quite fit, for providing crowd control barriers, and for arranging the construction and lighting of the Beacon.
  • Tattenhall Local History, who painstakingly researched a myriad of projects over many months to create a new Historical Trail Pamphlet, the Interpretation Panel, a new oak Roll of Honour for Burwardsley Church and the Poster Exhibition 'A Community United By War'.
  • TADs and the Music Society who combined to bring laughter, merriment, song and music to the weekend events.
  • St Alban's Church, and particularly Cathy Kitchen, who showed immense perseverance in obtaining 4 Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) signs which are now installed on each church gate (they arrived with just hours to spare, the CWGC having been besieged by requests).

The list goes on and on ....

We are sure, however, that Tattenhall Online speaks for the entire village when we say that Graham Marsden did us proud.

The Barbour Institute looked resplendent and Graham can at last come down from his ladders – every time this member of the Webteam dropped into the Barbour, that is where he was to be found!

'Thank You' Graham from every resident.
