We feel a drum roll is necessary!
Thom Morton, owner of SPAR on Tattenhall High Street, has supported TWiG for the last year with the proceeds from his voluntary introduction of a '5p single use plastic bag initiative'.
Thom recently presented TWiG with a cheque in the sum of £1102.68!! Is there no end to Thom Morton's support and generosity for local causes you ask?
This is a huge contribution to our local environmental organisation who are now responsible for managing up to 24 acres of land in the locality.
Their gratitude to Thom Morton at SPAR is immense. This financial input has allowed TWiG to undertake tree planting with local community youth groups and in the autumn, further habitat restoration of Jubilee Wood will take place which will include seeding the area with woodland wild flowers. Jubilee Wood which is now very well established, requires ongoing management.
In total, SPAR has donated +£2,500 to TWiG and whilst this is absolutely fantastic regarding environmental initiatives that can be funded at local level, it does (regrettably) mean that we are still using rather too many plastic bags!!
So, thanks to Thom Morton from TWiG BUT let's all push to reduce our continued reliance on plastic bags still further.
