Mulling Over the Gardening Year

Gardening is seasonal, sometimes not all happening on the same day! The differences are to be savoured by the onlooker and capitalised upon by the gardener. Sometimes you can be choosing the seeds for your veggies and annuals, other times you can be digging, planting out or harvesting. The Yellow Book can offer summertime sparkles for the active, learner or armchair gardener. And we all know that the first snowdrops or daffodils can inspire creative minds, as well as "a rose by any other name.....".

We are taking the opportunity to look at the Gardening year on Wednesday 13th December. Members of Tattenhall Gardening Society and anyone else who would like to come along as a visitor (small fee on the door) will find Christmas cheer and more from 7.30 for 7.45pm at the Barbour Institute.

The plan is to look at the four seasons that a Garden and Gardeners can enjoy, interspersing poems and pictures with tips and tipples. We welcome interactivity so please bring along photos of any gardens or plants that you have enjoyed these last 12 months – your own, Yellow Book, National Trust, municipal, whatever – and armed with appropriate questions. If anything in your garden is still flowering (the snow cannot kill off everything) please bring along a sample. It will help remind us of the good things to come.

Any questions, please contact Jen Benefield on 01829-770692.
