And so it was ... Nobody Does it Better – as Tattenhall Celebrates the Royal Wedding ....

As the nation prepared for the biggest party of the year, Gifford Lea stepped up to the mark and embraced the Royal Wedding fever last Saturday with over 170 guests from our local community enjoying an afternoon of celebration and summer indulgence

Their quintessential 'English Garden Party', to which residents and the local community were invited, included a live screening of the event, the perfect afternoon tea, celebratory Pimms and, of course, the 'Markle Sparkle' bespoke ice cream created by Jonathan Fell's team at the Ice Cream Farm and based on the wedding cake itself – elderflower and lemon in flavour and dusted with crushed ginger sprinkles.

Under a cloudless sky, the village was completely transformed. The bunting, the marquee and the Union Jack-clad trestle tables combined to create a festival-style atmosphere at which finger sandwiches, scones and party canapes were enjoyed by all.

As promised, and to round off a perfect day, baking enthusiasts were given a treat as Howard Middleton, former 'Great British Bake Off' contestant, was on site to judge a 'Royal Cake-Baking Competition'. Both adults and children were able to enter and the 'Star Bakers' from each category bagged coveted top prizes of an overnight stay in Windsor and a trip to Legoland respectively. Guests were also left entertained by Howard's amusing anecdotes from his time on the iconic television programme.
